How Fifth Element Marine collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Who this covers
Fifth Element Marine is a shipwright and boat repair business run by Tim Makepeace from 31/35 Five Islands Road, Port Kembla NSW 2505. This policy explains how we handle personal information, following the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
If you send an enquiry through this website we collect the details you enter into the form: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, and what you tell us about your boat and the work needed. If you call, text or email, we keep your contact details and what you tell us so that we can reply and quote.
When we carry out work we may also keep details we need to do the job and be paid, such as the boat's details, where it is kept, photographs of the work, and invoice and payment records.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, quote and carry out the work, invoice you, and meet our legal obligations. We do not use it for anything else, and we do not send marketing.
When we share it
We keep your information confidential. We only share it:
- with the providers that host this website and any app we use to keep jobs, quotes and invoices, which may store data outside Australia;
- with your consent, for example with your insurer if you ask us to;
- where we are required or permitted to by law.
We do not sell your information.
Photographs of the work
We sometimes photograph a job before and after, and may share those photographs on this website or our Facebook page. We do not include your name, and we will leave a job out if you ask us to.
How we store and protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we have handled your information, call Tim on 0422 998 443 or email [email protected] and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
